Here at Jersey Shore Calvary Chapel, we do so much more than just perform Sunday services. As a faith community in Point Pleasant, NJ, our members are engaged in a wide variety of activities, both within the church and serving the community. There are many opportunities for our members to get involved in serving, and work together to grow in faith. We have small groups, youth group services, and a variety of biblical study groups.
Jersey Shore Calvary Chapel exists to provide WORSHIP experiences that lead to lifestyles of WORSHIP. From our regularly scheduled services, our various small groups, our off site events and missions work everything we do is to glorify our Lord and His Gospel.
We also organize many opportunities for our members to volunteer and work with our community outreach programs. We are always open to new ideas and projects that will help us serve the community, so feel free to offer suggestions.
And if you are new and considering visiting our church, we want to extend a heartfelt welcome to you and your family. We aspire to be a church where everyone will feel welcome, and we want to invite you to give us a try. Meet our pastors here. More About JSCC
In December 2006, Jersey Shore Calvary Chapel began as a group of eight people crowded into Pastor John and his wife Christina’s living room in a small cape cod in Point Pleasant Beach. Within a month and a half, they outgrew the space and had to move to a dance school on Arnold Avenue. Just a few months later, with 50 people attending service each week, the church had to find a new home again. Point Pleasant's Memorial Middle School served as a temporary space for a time, as did Antrim Elementary.
But God had bigger plans for the expanding church. In 2013, a series of conversations led John to the First Baptist Church on McLean Avenue. First Baptist had a beautiful building but a declining congregation. JSCC had an abundance of people but little space. By June, First Baptist had graciously agreed that this historic 125-year old church should be Jersey Shore Calvary's new home.
What We Believe
We Believe that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We Believe that the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
We Believe in GOD THE FATHER, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We Believe in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.
We Believe in the HOLY SPIRIT, Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and the He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit.
We Believe that all PEOPLE are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.
We Believe in the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
We Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the Church:
- 1) Baptism
- 2) The Lord’s Supper.
We believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers.
We Believe also in the LAYING OF HANDS for the baptism of the Holy nation of pastors, elders, and deacons, and for receiving gifts of the Spirit of healing.
We Believe in the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.
We Believe in what is termed “THE APOSTLES CREED” as embodying fundamental facts of Christian Faith.
